Ando is one of my favorite contemporary surfers to photograph. A casual, but ever so stylish approach, on land or at sea. And don't let the mellow vibe fool 'ya, he holds his own in the heavy stuff as well.

The KIng of Teahupoo. The ambassador of Aloha.

You haven't truly experienced the magic of Tahiti until you've spent time immersed in Raimanaworld.

Maruru for all your hospitality, love and generosity over the years.

THE EDDIE, OPENING CEREMONY, WAIMEA BAY, 2008

The Bay calls the day.

"The Eddie" is the most prestigious surf event of all time, named in honor of the late legendary Hawaiian waterman Eddie Aikau. For the contest to run, the surf has to be in excess of 20' for the duration of the event. Because of this unique threshold, the contest has only been run 8 times since it's inception in 1984, most recently in 2009 and won by Greg Long.

Working on such a prestigious event is one of the proudest moments of my career. Seeing one of my best friends win it is something I will always cherish.

KELLY SLATER, LOWERS, 2008,

The greatest surfer of all time. Enough said. Well sort of.

11x time world champion, both the youngest and oldest, a recent stake in the largest surfboard manufacturer in the world (FireWire), a start-up apparel brand with a conscience, Outerknown and a stint on Baywatch and a 2-handicap. Is there anything he can't do? Probably not.

There've been numerous comparisons.....Gretzky, Jordan, Tiger but in my mind, none of them have sustained the competitive fire for as long and done so much to advance their sport.

When Lowers is on and he's not on tour, Kelly's still out there proving good living equates to great surfing. It's always an honor to shoot with King Kelly.

Many of you may recognize Rosy through the WSL webcasts but prior to her role as a commentator, the beautiful South African was a mainstay on the WCT, carving her way around the world with power and grace.

Julian will win a world title. He's already won a Junior title but he will bring home the belt on the big stage too. Dynamic above and below the lip, he has the full repertoire to compete in any waves. This image was captured at Off-the-Wall for use in the board short campaign.

The best surfer to come out of California since Tom Curren. With a smooth blend of power surfing and progressive giant airs, you knew you were going to get something special every time he hit the water or flew above it. Congrats on being a soon to be Dad Daner.

Roxy allowed for a more sublime approach but don't let the make-up fool you. Every single one of the girls ripped harder than you. Here, we see hawaiian royalty gliding on the fabled waves of Church.

Mix in Mad Max, Indiana Jones, Jacques Cousteau and a little bit of Captain Cook and you get the legend pictured here. Marty has made the world his oyster, pioneering and discovering epic line-ups in every part of the globe for over 3 decades. Remember the Search? Daly was at the helm and the Trader was his faithful steed.

I was fortunate to be the "resident" photo journalist aboard The Crossing for a period of two months during 04/05. Although my time aboard the MV was a blink of an eye compared to the 7-year, 27 country, 160,000 nautical mile journey responsible for the discovery of roughly 100 new waves, I counted every second as a blessing.

He may be getting older but winning surely isn't. Look at the 10 he just posted at Margaret's and you'll see the competitive fire and performance level are burning just as bright as they were when he won his first title in 1992.

This creative captured the spirit of what the Eddie is all about. A beautiful shot of Eddie by Dan Merkel combined with the essence of the waterman brotherhood that pulses through the veins of every invitee. Hold hands in this circle and you know you've made it to the top of the mountain.

JACK ROBINSON, G-LAND, 2010

The prodigy keeps getting younger. Jack has been tagged as the next big thing since he was a meter high but being raised on the wild slabs of Western Australia and mentored by some of the greatest surfers in the world, he may just live up to the lofty expectations that would burden most. If he can hold onto the stoke captured here, you'll be seeing his smiling face for many years to come.
